ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Following a two-week hiatus, the San Francisco State women's track and field team returned to action Saturday, logging four top-10 performances at the New Mexico Classic in the Albuquerque Convention Center. Felicia Terwilliger (Eureka, Calif., Warwick (R.I.) West HS) was the Gators' highest finisher, placing third in the high jump with a clearance of 5 feet, 4.25 inches.
Luisa Musika (Milpitas, Calif., Milpitas HS) turned in a fifth-place effort in the weight throw with a distance of 49-00.75, while the 4x400 relay team of Alicia Alicia Chambers (Roseville, Calif., Oakmont HS), Carrie Thomas (Fremont, Calif., Milpitas HS), Stefeny Butler (San Jose, Calif., Mt. Pleasant HS) and Samantha Eggert (Lincoln, Calif., Del Oro HS) took seventh with a time of 4 minutes, 1.00 seconds.
Chambers also placed ninth in the 200 meters, crossing the tape in 25.54 seconds, while Thomas wound up 17th with a 26.04 clocking.
In the 400, Eggert won her heat with a personal-best time of 59.40, finishing 14th overall. Tyler Dalbey (Petaluma, Calif., Petaluma HS, Santa Rosa JC) (1:00.28) and Butler (1:00.56) also competed in the event, placing 18th and 20th, respectively.
SF State will head to the Pacific Northwest next weekend when they compete in the Husky Classic (Feb. 13) and Husky Open (Feb. 14) on consecutive days. Both meets will be conducted at the University of Washington's Dempsey Indoor Stadium in Seattle, Wash.
