INDIANAPOLIS---- In the latest NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Statistics Report that was released this morning, the SF State Gators are third in the nation with their 32.8% field goal percentage defense while Adams State leads the nation with its 32.5%. The Gators are also 18th in the nation with their 4.8 blocked shots per game average with Kentucky State leading the nation with a 7.6 average.
Two Gators also rank in the nation in two individual categories.
Donisha Tate (Oakland, California, Las Posita College) is sixth with her 11.6 rebounding average while
Dominique Hunter (San Francisco, California, Gateway) is 17
th with her 2.1 blocked shots per game average. Kayla Smith of California (Pa.) currently leads the nation with her 12.1 rebounding average while Kentucky State's Kiarra Morgan leads the nation with her 4.5 blocked shots per game.
SF State is also in the top five in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in five team categories. The Gators lead the conference in blocked shots, steals, and field goal percentage defense while they are second in scoring defense and fifth in assists.
Six Gators are in the top 20 in the CCAA in nine individual categories led by
Donisha Tate who is first in rebounding, 7
th in field goal percentage, 12
th in blocked shots and 15
th in scoring.
Dominique Hunter leads the conference in blocked shots and is 12
th in free throw percentage and rebounding while
Jessica Hout-Freeman (Fremont, California, Washington) is tied for 15
th in steals and 15
th in assists.
Sidney Dobner (Newbury Park, CA, Newbury Park High School)is tied for 15
th in steals, Juliet
Juliet Masei (Mojave, CA, Dickinson State) is 13
th in three-point field goal percentage, and
Andrea Ohlssen (Pacifica, Cal Poly Pomona)is 12
th in three-point field goals made per game.
Three Gators are moving up the career lists SF State in
Jessica Hout-Freeman,
Dominique Hunter, and
Donisha Tate. Hout-Freeman is 9
th with 62 three-point field goals made, 8
th with 240 three-point field goals attempted, 8
th with 203 assists, and tied with 105 games played. Hunter is third in 145 blocked shots and 11
th with 509 rebounds while Tate is 13
th with 469 rebounds.
The Gators, under the direction of head coach Joaquin Wallace, are 10-13 overall and 6-9 in the (CCAA). They are in ninth place going into this week, a half-game behind Sonoma State and Cal State Dominguez Hills who are tied for seventh place. SF State will host three conference games this week beginning with tomorrow's scheduled 5:30pm tip-off with Cal State Monterey Bay.
