Pat Haugen Finishes 5th in Nation in Strikeouts

Pat Haugen Led the CCAA In Strikeouts and Was Third in ERA and Tied For 6th in Wins
INDIANAPOLIS--- SF State senior pitcher Pat Haugen (Cayucos, California, Cuesta College) finished his senior season ranked fifth in the nation in strikeouts with 114 according to the 2010 Final NCAA Division II Statistics Report that was released last week. Haugen also finished 15th in the nation with his 15.67 strikeouts per game average. Nebraska-Omaha's Joe Holtmeyer led the nation in both categories with 152 strikeouts and 15.67 strikeouts per game average.
 
As a team, the Gators finished 10th in the nation with their 91 hit by pitches and 27th in the nation with their .965 fielding percentage. Southern Arkansas led the nation getting hit 145 times this season and UC San Diego had a nation's best .984 fielding percentage. 
 
In the final California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) statistics report that was that also was released last week, three Gators are in the top 10 in five individual categories in Pat Haugen, Nick Nyman (Susanville, California, Lassen College) and Ryan Williams (Woodland, California, Yuba College).

Haugen was the conference leader in strikeouts and finished third with his 2.53 earned run average and tied for 6th with his 8 wins. Nyman's 16 stolen bases this season placed him fourth amongst the conference leaders while Williams posted a .449 on-base percentage which was 10th in the CCAA.
 
SF State finished the season with a 22-32 overall record and a 15-25 record in the CCAA. Haugen was a 2010 First Team All-CCAA selection and also was selected to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), and Daktronics, Inc. All-West Region Team. He also was selected to the NCBWA All-American Third Team and was a ABCA Gold Glove Recipient.
