INDIANAPOLIS--- SF State junior
Kendra Wood finished her junior season ranked 11th in the nation in saves according to the 2010 Final NCAA Division II Statistics Report that was released today. Wood recorded four saves this season while West Texas A&M's Shelby Cockrell led the nation with 8 saves.
Kylie Herrada (Gilroy, California, Gilroy) also was amongst the nation's leaders with her 0.3 sacrifice hits per game average which placed her 24
th. Ana Castillo of St. Leo and Jessica Jones of Pittsburg State led the nation with their 0.62 averages.
In the final California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) statistics report that was that was released last week, three Gators are in the top 10 in four individual categories in Wood, Herrada, and
Ashley Jackson (Vallejo, California, St. Patrick's-St. Vincent).
Wood finished second in the saves in the conference while Herrada tied for second with her 15 sacrifice hits. Jackson finished in the top ten in the conference in strikeouts (8th, 117) and earned run average (9th, 2.45).
SF State finished the season with a 20-33 overall record and a 13-23 record in the CCAA.
Kendra Wood was selected to the Second Team All-CCAA while
Karolyn Gubbine (Richmond, California, Pinole Valley) was named to the Daktronics, Inc., Second Team All-West Region.
