INDIANAPOLIS--- In the recent NCAA Division II men's basketball statistical report that was released this morning, the San Francisco State Gators are in the top 25 in nine team statistical categories. Three Gators are in the top 30 in seven individual categories in
Coley Apsay,
Nick Calcaterra and
AJ Kahlon.
The Gators (8-0, 2-0 CCAA) are second in the nation allowing their opponents to just 35.2% shooting from the field. They are also third with 96 steals on the season. Their 12.0 steals per game average places them fourth while they are fifth with their 80.1% shooting from the charity stripe.
They are in the top 25 in following five categories: scoring margin (13
th, +17.7), three-point field goal percentage defense (14
th, 28%), total blocks (17
th, 37), turnovers forced (147-18.4/game) and blocked shots per game (24
th, 4.6). The Gators are one of 19 teams in NCAA Division II that are still undefeated.
Kahlon is in the top 25 in five individual categories. The senior post player is third in total rebounds (93), fourth with his five double-doubles, seventh in rebounds/game (11.6), 13
th in total blocks (19) and 21
st in blocked shots/game (2.4). Apsay is second with his 27 steals and sixth with his 3.38 steals per game. Calcaterra is also in the top 30 with his 19 steals (28
th) and 2.71 steals per game (28
th).
San Francisco State will return to the court this week as the Gators have three games starting with their exhibition game tomorrow at 8pm at Kezar Pavilion against cross-town foe, University of San Francisco. The Gators will return to CCAA action this Friday, December 9 as they travel to Kentfield, Calif., to face Sonoma State for a scheduled 7:30pm tip-off at the College of Marin. They will return home this Saturday, December 10 as they host Simpson University in a non-conference game at 7pm.
