KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the 2017 NABC Coaches' Division II All-District teams and coaches, recognizing the best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes and coaches in the division as selected and voted on by member coaches.
San Francisco State was represented by Head Coach
Paul Trevor and junior guard
Warren Jackson. Trevor was named the West Region Co-Coach of the Year alongside Hawai'i Pacific's Darren Vorderbruegge. Warren was one of six student-athletes named to the West Region First Team.
"I am excited and thrilled about these honors," said Trevor. "I'm so grateful for the players and coaches I've worked with who have enabled us to achieve such great things at this university."
Trevor led the No. 22 Gators to a 25-6 record, the best mark in the program's modern era and the most since the 1939-40 season. The Gators were ranked as high as No. 13 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1993-94. SF State appeared in the NABC poll in all but two weeks of the season, reaching as high as No. 13. The Gators also finished second in the CCAA and advanced to the CCAA Tournament Championship. Trevor reached the 100-win mark this season in a win over then-No. 20 Chico State and was the fastest coach in program history to do so.
Jackson adds to a number of awards this season. He was also named to the CCA Men's Basketball All-West Region Second Team, All-CCAA First Team, and was a two-time CCAA Player of the Week selection this season. Jackson averaged 17.2 points – second-highest in the CCAA, 4.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game in all 28 games for the Gators. The Detroit native shot 50 percent from the field, 45.4 percent from deep, and 85.2 percent from the free throw line. He scored a career-high 35 points in the final regular-season game of the year, a win at Humboldt State.
