SAN RAMON, Calif. — Five San Francisco State basketball players have been named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic team, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Coley Apsay and Ryne Williams were named to the men's team while Erika Nilson, Imani Smith, and Kayla Watterson were named to the women's team.
The CCAA recognizes individuals for their academic achievements per season. A combined 77 men's and women's basketball student-athletes were named to their respective CCAA All-Academic teams. 324 men's cross country, women's cross country, men's soccer, women's soccer, and women's volleyball student-athletes were named in the fall, bringing the total awarded thus far in 2016-17 to 401. Baseball, softball and track and field will be honored following their respective 2017 seasons of competition.
To be eligible for the CCAA Winter All-Academic Team, student-athletes shall be of sophomore athletic standing or higher, and may include graduate students; must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA or better, and must have competed in a Conference-sponsored sport in that season.
