PITTSBURG, Kansas –
Atiya Harvey and
Destiny Mack-Talalemotu both earned All-America awards on Saturday as the No. 7 San Francisco State track & field team closed out the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Harvey qualified for the 200m finals yesterday, and came into the finals today running a program-best 24.29 to take sixth place and her first All-America award of the weekend and third of her career. Harvey becomes the first Gator in program history to take home the plaudit in the 200m.
In shot put, Mack-Talalemotu's threw a 14.65m on her second toss, which qualified her for the finals. On her sixth and final throw of the day, the junior notched a program-high 15.30m in the final round to move into sixth place and win her second All-America award in just as many days. Mack-Talalemotu becomes the first All-American honoree in shot put in SF State history, and is also the first Gator to garner multiple indoor All-America awards in the field events.
SF State finished T-22
nd in the event, which matches a program-best finish for the Gators in the Indoor Championships. The nine points overall are the most points accumulated ever by SF State.
