NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the All-Region honorees for the 2017-18 NCAA Outdoor season, with nine San Francisco State student-athletes earning a total of 21 honors.

Kendra Reimer. "Having 21 All-Region honors shows the depth and diversity of our program. We really pride ourselves in being a well-round team that can develop talent at any level. The coaching staff and student-athletes have worked relentlessly these past few years to achieve this success."
The nine honorees and 21 overall honors are both program bests for No. 8 SF State. A total of 640 women from 151 different institutions picked up 929 All-Region honors. SF State is one of just three women's programs to total 20 or more All-Region honors.
Janelle Bandayrel earns the recognition in the 100m and 4x100, and joining Bandayrel in the 4x100 is
Timarya Baynard,
Maya Cook, and
Jazmine Smith. The quartet currently has the tenth-fastest time in the country with a 45.95, which is also the second-fastest time in program history.
In addition to the 4x100, Baynard takes home All-Region recognition in the 200m, 400m, and the 4x400, which is the second-straight year she earns the award in four events. She took gold at the CCAA Championships in the 200m with a 24.08, which is the third-fastest time in program history, and she also notched a first-place finish in the 400m with a 54.64.
Joining Baynard in the 4x400 is
Bianca Bryant, Cook, and Smith, and the group ran the third-fastest time in the country at the Mt. Sac Relays with a mark of 3:40.86.
This is Bryant's first All-Region honor and she also takes home the hardware in the 800m, for which she owns the seventh-fastest time in the country with a program-record time of 2:07.68. Cook is also a first-time honoree, and in addition to the relays she earns the plaudit in the 200m.
Smith ran the fourth-fastest time in the nation at the CCAA Championships in the 400m with a 55.05 en route to her All-Region honors.
Vanessa Koontz took first in the 400m hurdles at the CCAA Championships with a time of 1:00.19, which is the second-fastest time in Gator history and the 16
th-best in the country.
Monisha Lewis broke the program record in the 100m hurdles with a 13.53, recording the sixth-fastest time in the country. She also earns All-Region honors in the 100m.
Destiny Mack-Talalemotu and
Courtney Massengale represent the Gators in the field events. Both earn the recognition in discus, and Mack-Talalemotu also takes home the hardware in shot put and hammer. This past weekend, Mack-Talalemotu tossed an automatic qualifier in shot put with a 15.84m, which is a program record. Massengale also has an automatic qualifier as she threw the fourth-best mark in the nation in discus with a 53.68m, which she recorded at the CCAA Championships on her way to a first-place finish.
The top-five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the indoor track & field season.
Up next for the CCAA-Champion Gators will be the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which take place on May 24-26 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
