FRESNO, Calif. — San Francisco State baseball players
Brady Dorn and
Jackson Kritsch have been named to the D2CCA Baseball All-West Region Second Team.
San Francisco State's middle infielders have racked up the honors after the Gators made history on the final day of the season by punching their ticket to their first-ever CCAA Championships appearance under third-year Head Coach
Tony Schifano.
Dorn was also named to the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) NCAA Division II All-West Region First Team. An
All-CCAA First Team selection, he was named San Francisco State Athletics'
newcomer of the year. The junior was fourth in the CCAA with a team-high .370 batting average, led his team with 23 walks, and tallied 68 hits and 33 RBIs. The Redondo Beach, California native also led San Francisco State baseball to the program's first-ever CCAA Championships appearance.
Kritsch was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District
® Baseball Team, selected by
CoSIDA. The All-CCAA Second Team selection hit a team-best .371 and led the team with 75 hits, 45 runs, and 10 stolen bases. His 50 appearances and 49 starts were second most on the team. The accounting major not only excels on the field but also in the classroom, where he boasts a 3.96 cumulative grade point average, and was also named the CCAA Championships Scholar.
Voting for the D2CCA Baseball Teams were conducted by the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors from West Region institutions and conference offices. The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
