Outside hitter Lauren Walsh notched 77 kills, 48 digs, eight assists, two services aces and one block assist over the weekend, leading the Gators to a 2-2 record at the 2010 Seawolf Spike Tournament. For her efforts, the SF State sophomore earned a spot on the all-tournament team, topping all players with her 77 kills and a stellar 4.53 average per set. In addition, Walsh averaged a double-double in kills (19.25) and digs (12.0) over the four matches. In Friday’s opener vs. Seattle Pacific, Walsh knocked down a career-high 28 kills and set a school record with 85 attack attempts, while scooping up 15 digs against a team that topped the tournament with a 4-0 mark. Later in the afternoon against Grand Canyon, she posted 15 kills and added nine digs and three assists. On Saturday vs. BYU-Hawaii, Walsh blasted 20 kills, the third time in her career she has reached that plateau, while recording a collegiate-best 16 digs to help the Gators to their first win of the season. Then in the finale against Dominican, she recorded her best hitting percentage for the weekend (.314), launching 14 kills on 35 attempts with just three errors to help SF State to a three-set sweep over the Penguins.
