Setter Iris Tolenada played a stellar role this past weekend in leading the Gators to consecutive road victories over Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus. The SF State sophomore totaled a combined 104 assists (52 per match) and 19 digs (9.5 per match) to go along seven kills, six service aces and one block assist. Against Chico State on Friday, Tolenada dished out 43 assists, scooped up 12 digs and served up a match-high four aces as the Gators snapped an 11-match losing streak to the Wildcats in a four-set win. The following evening at Cal State Stanislaus, Tolenada fell one assist shy of her single-match high, finishing with 61 helpers to go along with seven digs and five kills (.625 hitting pct.), helping SF State overcome a 2-1 deficit in sets in a 3-2 thriller over the Warriors. With her performances, Tolenada, the 2009 CCAA Freshman of the Year, now has four double-doubles (assists-digs) on the season and leads the conference with an average of 10.64 assists per set (681 total).
