Middle hitter Halimah Oswald played a prominent role in SF State’s undefeated weekend, hitting .400 in two matches with 38 kills (4.22 per set) on 70 attempts with just 10 errors. She also contributed seven digs and five total blocks and three service aces. On Friday at Cal State L.A., Oswald knocked down a career-high and match-best 22 kills (4.40 per set) in 34 attempts with just three errors for a stellar .559 hitting percentage. In addition, the Gator junior finished with three crucial blocks, two service aces and two digs as SF State completed its first-ever regular season sweep of the Golden Eagles and posted its first win at CSULA since 1987. The following afternoon at Cal State Dominguez Hills, Oswald continued her stellar offensive display, leading all players with 16 kills (4.00 per set) to go along with five digs, two block assists and a service ace as the Gators downed the Toros in four sets. With her performances, Oswald has reached the double-digit kill plateau in seven straight matches, hitting at a .323 clip during that stretch. For the season, she leads SF State with a .287 hitting percentage, which now ranks 10th in the CCAA, and is second on the squad with 211 kills, 47 total blocks and 26 service aces.
