Dylan Phillipy took home the individual title in the 141-pound weight class at SF State’s own California Community College Invitational on Sunday after posting a 4-0 record. Phillipy dominated his bracket, notching two pins, a victory by technical fall and a win by major decision en route to the title. Phillipy, seeded second in his division, opened with a pin of San Joaquin Delta College’s Paul Kellam at the 4:55 mark, before duplicating the feat against Shane Kenihan of Santa Rosa JC at 2:18 in the second round. Then in his semifinal bout, the Gator redshirt freshman disposed of Sacramento City College’s Anthony Vega in an 18-1 triumph by technical fall. Phillipy soon capped off a perfect day with a 8-0 major decision over top-seeded Tyler Diamond of SCC in the championship bout. With his performance, Phillipy raised his record to a sparkling 8-1 on the young season.
