In his very first race as a Gator, Ernesto Rodriguez placed second out of 70 runners at the season-opening Notre Dame de Namur Invitational on Saturday in Belmont, Calif., completing the 4.2-mile course in 21:48 to help SF State capture the team championship in the seven-school field, which included Division I foe San Jose State and CCAA member Cal State East Bay.
