In her first race as a Gator, Paxton Cota placed second out of 100 runners at the Notre Dame de Namur Invitational on Saturday in Belmont, Calif., completing the six-kilometer race in 23:17 to help SF State finish a solid second in the 11-school field. Cota finished just five seconds behind the winner Ailyn Mejia of team champion San Jose State as the Gators easily outdistanced the likes of Division I Pacific and CCAA members Cal State
East Bay and Sonoma State in the team standings.
