Andrew Reggi compiled a perfect 6-0 record last weekend, logging a pair of dual-meet victories against McKendree (Ill.) and Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) on Friday, followed by an individual championship in the 197-pound weight class at the Menlo Invitational on Saturday in Atherton, Calif. In the opener against McKendree, Reggi scored an 11-1 victory by major decision over Andrew Davis as the Gators rolled past the Bearcats, 32-10. Later that evening, he contributed to SF State’s 27-11 triumph over ERAU after disposing of the Eagles’ Shawn Michelak by an 18-8 count. Reggi then set the tone for his title run at the Menlo Invite on Saturday, opening with a pin of Sierra College’s Kaleb McDade at the first-period buzzer, before posting a 6-2 decision in the second round over Andrew Davis, whom he defeated on Friday as well. The Gator sophomore soon dispatched David Dill of Cal Baptist by a 10-3 tally in the semifinals, followed by a pin in the championship bout against Menlo's Ben Yura with 13 seconds remaining in the first period for his first-ever collegiate tournament crown. With his performance, Reggi improves to 9-1 on the young season, already equaling his win total from a year ago when his freshman campaign was cut short by a knee injury.
