A sophomore from Selma, Calif., McDaniel automatically qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships after setting a school record in the triple jump at UC Berkeley's Brutus Hamilton Invitational last Saturday. She posted a personal-best leap of 41 feet, 2 1/4 inches to finish third among seven other Division I competitors.
With her performance, McDaniel now tops the CCAA and ranks third nationally. She also ran the anchor leg of the SF State's 4x400 relay that surpassed a Division II provisional qualifying time at the same venue last Friday, as the Gator quartet logged a school-record clocking of 3:42.58, which also leads the CCAA and ranks fourth in the country.
