Kelly Ostello opened the 2012 season with a pair of strong performances in the Gators’ three-set victories over Maryville and Alaska Anchorage at the Otter Classic last Friday. The sophomore outside hitter posted a .327 hitting percentage, knocking down a combined 23 kills (3.83/set) to along with nine digs, two assists and two blocks. Against Maryville, Ostello hit at a .450 clip with a career-high tying 12 kills and also contributed four digs, a solo block and block assist. The San Francisco native picked up right where she left off later in the afternoon against UAA, tying for match-high honors with 11 kills, while adding five digs to help SF State record its second straight sweep.
