Kelly Ostello played a key role in the Gators' 3-2 week, blasting 77 kills (3.67/set) to go along with 34 digs (1.62/set), six service aces, five blocks and three assists. After launching 13 kills and serving up two aces in SF State's home-opening victory over Seattle Pacific, the Gator outside hitter earned a spot on the all-tournament team with a series of impressive performances at the highly competitive Route 92 Showdown.
In the opener Friday against Academy of Art University, Ostello hit .314, launching 21 kills to go along with a collegiate-best four service aces and three blocks, including two solos, as the Gators rallied for a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Urban Knights.
The following day against Cal Baptist, Ostello recorded her first double-double in a Purple and Gold uniform, posting career-highs of 23 kills and 11 digs, while adding two assists as SF State dropped a narrow five-set decision to the Lancers. The Gator sophomore then closed off the tournament against co-host Notre Dame de Namur by recording a .478 hitting percentage on 13 kills in 23 attempts with just two errors as SF State rolled to a 3-0 sweep.
With her effort, Ostello moved into fourth place in the CCAA this week with an average of 3.70 kills per set, while her 100 kills overall ranks fifth.
