Senior Megan Johnson was a key contributor in the Gators’ important road victories over Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills last weekend after posting a crisp .351 hitting percentage in two matches with 38 kills (4.75/set), 25 digs (3.12/set), two block assists and a service ace. Against CSULA on Friday, the SF State opposite hitter hit .333 with 14 kills (3.50/set), 12 digs (3.00/set) and a block assist to help the Purple and Gold win at the Eagles Nest for the third straight year in a 3-1 triumph. The following evening against a resurgent CSUDH squad, Johnson was even better, hitting at a .364 clip, while tying her career high with 24 kills for a whopping 6.00 average per set. The Riverside native also collected 13 digs (3.25/set) to complete her second straight double-double and fifth of the season, while adding an ace and a block assist to help SF State to another hard-fought 3-1 decision. Thanks in part to Johnson’s efforts, the Gators remain tied atop the CCAA standings with a 5-1 conference record and a 10-3 mark overall.
