Freshman Meagan Wright was a key contributor in the Gators’ 2-1 week after posting a stellar .372 attack percentage with 40 kills (4.00/set), nine blocks (0.90/set), three service aces and three digs.
Against Sonoma State last Wednesday, the SF State middle hitter tied for match-high honors with 15 kills on 31 attempts, minus two errors for a sparkling .419 hitting percentage. Wright also added three blocks, including a solo stop, and two aces as the Gators swept the regular-season series from the Seawolves for the first time since 1990.
The following night vs. Cal State Dominguez Hills, the San Diego native displayed her efficiency once again, hitting at a .409 clip with 11 kills on 22 swings, while committing just two miscues. Wright also contributed a season-best six block assists and served up an ace to help SF State log its 10th sweep of the year.
Wright then closed off her productive week against Cal State L.A. by surpassing the double-digit plateau in kills for the eighth straight occasion, blasting a match-best 14 put-aways, while finishing with a steady .303 attack percentage.
With her performances, Wright enters this weekend’s road matches at UC San Diego and Cal State San Bernardino ranked fourth in hitting percentage (.318), sixth in kills (3.25/set) and 11th in service aces (0.30/set) in the CCAA.
