In his first action since after finishing in fifth place at the 2011 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, Naveed Bagheri went 2-2. The two-time All-American won his first match by an 11-2 major decision over Matt Garelli (Stanford-unattached). He then won by a 14-4 technical fall decision over Cal Baptist's Miguel Gallegos in the second round.

Bagheri then lost in the quarterfinals to Jake Leon by a 3-1 sudden victory. The preseason 7^th ranked wrestler at 141 in NCAA Division II then was eliminated by injury default to Racellis Cardenas of Fresno City College.
