Zach Jimenez went 4-0 this weekend as the Gators opened up 2014 on a high note. Jimenez started the weekend with a 9-4 win by decision over #11 Mercyhurst’s Dakota DesLauriers to start the Gators’ 21-15 win over the nationally ranked Lakers on Friday afternoon at The Swamp. Jimenez came back the next day going 3-0 en route to the title at the Menlo Invitational as he played a key role in the Gators’ first place finish. The redshirt senior started his Saturday with a 3-2 win over Tuck VanMatre of Southern Oregon. In the semi-finals, he defeated Paul Head of Cal Baptist by a 3-1 decision. He captured the title by winning by fall at 7:20 over Southern Oregon’s Jacob Abrams. This was his first win by fall this season. Jimenez has won five of his last six matches and is 7-3 in his last 10.
