Costa started the Roadrunner Open with a 5-2 decision over Boise State’s Keavon Buckley in the championship second round.  The senior grappler defeated Stanford’s Cole Depasquale by a 6-4 sudden victory decision in the quarterfinals.  He then lost by a 10-0 major decision in the semi-finals to Army’s Rocco Caywood, who is currently ranked 15^th in the nation in NCAA Division I. Caywood eventually placed second at the Open.   

Costa advanced to the third place match with a 4-3 win by decision over Boise State’s Harley DiLulo. In the third place match, Costa lost by fall at 1:02 to Purdue’s This is the second consecutive year that Costa has placed in the Roadrunner Open last year he placed fifth at 184.
