    Volunteer Assistant Coach - Pole Vault
Dimitry Yakoushkin coached six of the top ten pole vaulters at San Francisco State from 2010 to 2014 as a volunteer assistant, and now returns for the 2019 outdoor season. He is a passionate athlete and coach in track and field and a prominent voice for the advent of the women’s decathlon at the national and international levels. In 2010 Dimitry built a track club in San Francisco, the SF Coyotes, to develop multi-event post-collegiate athletes, with a focus on the women’s decathlon and vault. Two of the top three athletes in the inaugural USA Women’s Decathlon Championships train with the Coyotes.  
 
A student-athlete at UC Davis from 1995 to 1999, Yakoushkin helped his team start a string of three-straight conference titles. Afterwards, he went on to compete in the decathlon. In 2018, at age 41, Yakoushkin jumped his lifetime best in both the pole vault and the high jump, and finished seventh at the Master’s World Championships in the decathlon for age 40+. He plans to compete through the 2021 outdoor season and coach indefinitely.
 
Yakoushkin lives in San Francisco with his family where he works as a counselor and life coach, and writes fiction.
