Ryan Loder joined the San Francisco State wrestling program as the team’s assistant coach ahead of the 2017-18 season.
Loder was a Division I All-American for Northern Iowa, where he was a three-time team captain and most valuable wrestler for the No. 15-ranked Panthers. He was a four-time NCAA qualifier, three-time top twelve finisher, and placed seventh at 184 pounds at the 2013 NCAA Championships. Loder competed for Granite Bay HS, where he was a two-time state placewinner and a two-time Fargo freestyle All-American. After college, he competed for Panther Wrestling Club on the Senior level in freestyle. He took sixth place at the 2015 U.S. Open at 86k/189 lbs.
The California native has a wealth of experience coaching at the college and youth levels. Loder coaches California USA Wrestling national teams and also owns and operates Apex Wrestling Academy in Sacramento, California, a year-round program for youth and high school wrestlers.
Loder earned both his BA in Business Management-Administration and his Masters of Business Administration from Northern Iowa. He also served as a graduate assistant for UNI’s Panther Scholarship Club and John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, which was voted student entrepreneurship program of the year in 2015.
