Gators Record 4th Shutout

Sarah Ruebel Connected on a Header in the Gators' 3-0 Win at Sonoma
Rohnert Park, Calif.--- For the fourth time in their last six matches, the SF State Gators (7-8-2, 5-5-2 CCAA) held their opponents scoreless. This afternoon, the Gators blanked Sonoma State Seawolves 3-0 in a CCAA match at Seawolf Field in Rohnert Park, Calif. SF State avenged an earlier 2-0 loss to Sonoma State.
Freshman Myriah Johnson (Lakewood, WA/Clover Park HS) put the Gators on the board at the 9:23 mark with a shot from the left side. Eleven minutes later, Zoila Marquez (So, F, Salinas, CA/North Salinas HS) doubled the Gators' score after she shot a laser in the lower right of the net.
The score remained 2-0 Gators until six minutes into the second half when Sarah Ruebel (M, San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo HS) scored on an header off a cross from Marquez
SF State out shot the Seawolves 12-7 and also recorded more corner kicks than its opponents (6-1). Emily Hart (Fr, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA/Tesoro HS) recorded four saves in goal for the Gators in the first 87 minutes of the match while sophomore Rachel Lauderdale (Mission Viejo, CA/Laguna Hills HS) played the final three minutes in goal for SF State.
The Gators will continue their four-game road trip this Wednesday, October 24 at 12:30pm with a CCAA match in Seaside, Calif., with the CSU Monterey Bay Otters, who lost 1-0 at Humboldt State this afternoon. SF State defeated the Otters 2-1 in San Francisco earlier this season. The Gators kept their CCAA tournament hopes alive this afternoon with its win.
