Women's Soccer Record Third Straight Shutout

Carly Bliss Connected on the Gators' Second Goal This Afternoon
Seaside, Calif.---   SF State's women's soccer team recorded their fifth shutout in the Gators' last seven game and third straight shutout in this afternoon's 2-0 blanking of the CSU Monterey Bay Otters (5-11-2, 1-11-1 CCAA) in Seaside, California. With the win, the Gators (8-8-2, 6-5-2 CCAA) keep their CCAA Tournament hopes alive as they move into fifth place overall in the CCAA, three points behind Cal State Stanislaus and CSU Dominguez Hills who are currently tied for the third and fourth spots in the four-team CCAA Tournament that begins on November 1 in Carson, California.
Senior midfielder Kate Donaldson (Granite Bay, Calif./Sierra College) scored what proved to be the game-winner at the 14:46 mark of the first half on a free kick. This was her second game-winning goal of the season and her second goal of the season. Sixteen minutes later, Carly Bliss (Fr, D/M, San Diego, Calif/Rancho Bernardo HS) connected on a ball from Zoila Marquez (So, F, Salinas, Calif/North Salinas HS) to double the Gator advantage. SF State out shot the Otters 12-8.
Freshman goalkeeper Emily Hart (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif/Tesoro HS) recorded four saves en route to her fifth shutout of the season for the Gators. Two Otters shared time in goal recording four saves.
SF State finishes its four-game road trip this Friday, October 26 at 7pm for a CCAA match with the Golden Eagles of Cal State LA in Los Angeles.
