Gators Fall to Cal State LA

Los Angeles, Calif.--- Cal State LA Golden Eagles (10-5-1-, 7-5-2 CCAA) eliminated the SF State Gators' hopes of earning a berth in next weekend's four-team CCAA Championship Tournament with a 2-1 victory over the visiting Gators this evening in Los Angeles, Calif.
            The Golden Eagles scored the game's first goal in the 29th minute as Amber DeSeriere connected on a corner kick from Sarah Le. Cal State LA doubled its advantage when Christina Buenrostrom connected on a ball from Erika Prado and Erica Thomas with five minutes left in the first half. 
            With 16 minutes left in the game, freshman Alex Emanuel (Pacific Grove, Calif./Pacific Grove HS) connected on a pass from Myriah Johnson (Fr, F, Lakewood, Wash./Clover Park) to score SF State's only goal. 
            The Gators had a couple of chances to tie the game in the final minutes, but Reyna Cora stopped the ball from going into the net for the Golden Eagles. Emily Hart (Fr, GK, Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif/Tesoro HS) recorded four saves in goal for the Gators. Cal State LA out shot the Gators 11-5. 
            SF State (8-9-2, 6-6-2 CCAA) will finish out its 2007 regular season with a non-conference home match this Sunday, October 28th at 12:30pm, when the Gators host the Cal State East Bay Pioneers at Cox Stadium on the campus of SF State. The Gators will recognize both team's seniors in a brief ceremony before the start of the game including their four seniors Rachel Brusnahan (Santa Rosa, Calif/Cochise College), Jane Campbell (San Diego, Calif/CSU Monterey Bay), Kate Donaldson (Granite Bay, Calif/Sierra College), and Lissette Garay (Salinas, Calif/Notre Dame HS).
