Gators Stay Unbeaten at Home

Robin Bowman Recorded Her Third Game-Winning Goal Today

San Francisco, Calif.---- SF State women's soccer team remained unbeaten at home as the Gators defeated the visiting Academy of Arts University Urban Knights (1-8-1) 3-0 this afternoon at Cox Stadium.  With the win, the Gators are 5-4-2 overall and 5-0-2 in their seven home matches this season.
            "We got to play the whole team today and as a team we developed well," said SF State Head Coach Jack Hyde.  "Both groups played well today and were able to get three very good goals on plays that we have been working on during practice."

            Both teams played a scoreless first half as the Urban Knights had five shots to SF State's two while the Gators' Rachel Lauderdale (Mission Viejo, California, Laguna Hills)recorded three saves in goal in the first half.  The Gators came out in the second half scoring three goals in the final 30 minutes of the match.

            Robin Bowman (San Francisco, California, Cal State Bakersfield) connected for SF State's first goal off a corner kick from Sarah Whelan (Laguna Niguel, California, Dana Hills) in the 61st minute for her fifth goal of the season.  Twelve minutes later, the Gators made it 2-0 when Myriah Johnson (Lakewood, Washington, Clover Park) scored her fourth goal off a ball from Lauren McAulay (Pasadena, California, LaSalle) in the 73rd minute.  Kara Cunningham (Rohnert Park, California, Rancho Cotate) sealed the win for SF State, when she connected on a ball from Michelle Mason (Valencia, California, Hart) in the 86th minute to increase the Gators' lead to 3-0.

            SF State outshot the Academy of Arts 17-3 in the second half while Emily Hart (Racho Santa Margarita, California, Tesoro) had two saves in goal for the Gators.  Shelby Magallon had six saves in goal for the Urban Knights. 

            The Gators will be back on the road this weekend for a pair of CCAA matches in Southern California.  This Friday, October 3, SF State will face CCAA South Division Leader CSU San Bernardino at 1:30pm in San Bernardino.  Then on Sunday, October 5, the Gators at 11:30am, SF State will travel to Pomona for a match with Cal Poly Pomona.
