San Francisco, Calif.---- With their 1-0 win over the visiting Cal State LA Golden Eagles (4-7-1, 3-6 CCAA), the SF State Gators finished 5-0 against the CCAA Southern Division schools. SF State defeated UC San Diego 2-1, CSU Dominguez Hills 2-0, CSU San Bernardino 1-0, Cal Poly Pomona 2-1 and the Golden Eagles 1-0 this season for the first time in school history.
“I am very pleased win the win and especially the fact that we went 5-0 against the Southern Division schools in the conference,” said SF State Head Coach
Jack Hyde. “We took the lead with 15 minutes left in the first half after
Michelle Mason connected on for her first collegiate goal and hung on for the victory,” said Hyde.
Michelle Mason (Valencia, California, Hart) scored the only goal of the game at the 30:44 mark off a missed shot from
Myriah Johnson (Lakewood, Washington, Clover Park) The Gators then hung on for their ninth shutout of the season. SF State (9-5-2, 7-2-1 CCAA) outshot the Golden Eagles 15-9 including 9-5 in the first half.
Emily Hart (Racho Santa Margarita, California, Tesoro)recorded seven saves in goal for SF State en route to her third shutout of the season and the Gators' ninth. Heather Emswiller recorded three saves in goal for Cal State LA.
The Gators, who are now 7-1-2 at home, will return to the pitch this Friday, October 17 at 3pm for a CCAA game with Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock. SF State tied Cal State Stanislaus 0-0 on September 28 in San Francisco.
