Gators Record 10th Shutout in 1-0 Victory at Chico State

Chico, Calif.--- SF State's women's soccer team rebounded from Friday's 3-0 defeat at Cal State Stanislaus this afternoon with a 1-0 win at Chico State. With the win, the Gators (10-6-2, 8-3-1 CCAA) remain three points ahead of Sonoma State to stay in first place in the CCAA North Division with two weeks remaining in the regular season.
            “We dominated the first half with Robin (Bowman) connecting on the game-winner mid-way through the half,” said SF State Head Coach Jack Hyde. “Chico played well in the second half, but we held on for the 1-0 win in a well officiated game,” added Hyde. “It was fantastic to come back with a win after the 3-0 loss on Friday,” noted the Gator head coach.  
            Robin Bowman (San Francisco, California, Cal State Bakersfield) scored the game's only goal at the 27:11 mark of the first half connecting on a long ball in the box by Courtney Hamchuk (Laguna Beach, California, Laguna Beach) for a tap in for her team leading ninth goal of the season. This also was her fifth game-winning goal of the season, which also leads the Gators.

            Chico State (7-8-2, 3-6-2 CCAA) recorded four shots in the second half compared to the Gators' one, but none of the crossed into the goal for the Wildcats. SF State's Emily Hart (Racho Santa Margarita, California, Tesoro)recorded two saves in goal en route to her fourth shutout of the season and the Gators' 10 of the season.
            SF State is now 7-2-1 in its last ten games including 6-1-1 in conference games after starting off the season 3-4-1 overall and 2-2 in the CCAA.

          The Gators will end their regular season this coming weekend with a pair of conference home games at Cox Stadium. On Friday, SF State will host Humboldt State at 3pm. Then on Sunday at 11:30am, the Gators will host Sonoma State in their regular season home finale. Sonoma State defeated Humboldt State 2-1 in overtime this afternoon in Arcata. Prior to the game on Sunday, SF State will recognize both team's seniors including its own four in Robin Bowman, Lauren Candia (Novato, California, University of San Francisco), Morgan Davison (Arlington, Virginia, Radford University) and Courtney Hamchuk.
