Bowman Keys Gators Win in Home Opener

Robin Bowman Scored Both of the Gators' Goals This Afternoon

San Francisco, Calif.---  SF State senior Robin Bowman (San Francisco, California, Cal State Bakersfield) scored both of the Gators' goals in their home opener to key their 2-0 win over the visiting Hawai'i-Hilo Vulcans (1-2).  Rachel Lauderdale (Mission Viejo, California) in her second consecutive start in goal for the Gators (1-2) recorded her first collegiate shutout while recording six saves.

“We did what we had to do to get the win this afternoon,” said SF State Head Coach Jack Hyde.  “Robin (Bowman) connected on two great opportunities on plays that we have been working on during the past week,” added Hyde.  “It was great to get the shutout and on top of it get the win at home.”

The Gators' first goal came with less than a minute left in the first half as Bowman connected off a corner kick by Sara Ordaz (Lodi, California) that led to a header by Carly Bliss (San Diego, California).   SF State's second goal also came off a corner kick by Sarah Whelan (Laguna Niguel, California, Dana Hills) that led to Bowman's second goal of the season.
