SAN FRANCISCO--- SF State's women's soccer team snapped its seven-game winless streak this afternoon with a 2-0 win over the visiting Cal Poly Pomona Broncos (6-7, 2-7 CCAA) at SF State's Cox Stadium. This was the Gators' third shutout of the season and second consecutive one.
“It is great to get a win and also to post our second consecutive shutout,” said SF State Head Coach
Jack Hyde. “We played a great team game this afternoon and look to continue it this Sunday against CSU San Bernardino.”
Katie Voss (Pleasanton, California, Amador Valley) put the Gators on the board first, when she connected on a ball from
Lauren McAulay (Pasadena, California, LaSalle) in the 14
th minute. This was Voss' fifth goal of the season and her fourth game-winner.
Carly Bliss (San Diego, California, Ranch Bernardo) sealed the win for the Gators (4-6-3, 2-5-2 CCAA) with three minutes left as she connected on a free kick from
Andrea Carey (Fresno, California, San Joaquin Memorial).
The Broncos out-shot SF State 11-9, but the Gators controlled the second half recording three shots to Cal Poly Pomona's one.
Annicia Jones had three saves en route to her third shutout of the season for the Gators. Sarah Rohman had three saves in goal for Cal Poly Pomona.
SF State continues its season long four-game home stand this Sunday at 2pm for a CCAA match with CSU San Bernardino.
