No. 23 CSULA Scores Golden Goal to Defeat Gators 1-0 in OT

Rachel Lauderdale Had Six Saves in Goal for the Gators
 
SAN FRANCISCO---  Ann Marie Tangorra scored the golden goal off a corner kick from Liz Franco two minutes into the first overtime period to give the No. 23 Cal State LA Golden Eagles (7-1, 4-1 CCAA) the 1-0 road conference victory over the SF State Gators this afternoon at SF State's Cox Stadium.
            The first was played evenly as Cal State LA out-shot the Gators 6-5, but SF State (3-3-2, 1-2-1 CCAA) had three shots on goal attempts to the Golden Eagles one. Carly Bliss (San Diego, California, Ranch Bernardo) missed the Gators' first chance to score in the 7th minute when Jessie Walworth stopped her shot from going into the goal. Three minutes later, Myriah Johnson (Lakewood, Washington, Clover Park)shot was saved by Walworth. 
            Cal State LA's first chance was by Kelly Melanson in the 11th minute, but Rachel Lauderdale (Mission Viejo, California, Laguna Hills)recorded one of her six saves in the day.
            The game remained scoreless in the second half, but the Golden Eagles out-shot SF State 10-5 including 5 to 2 in shot on goal attempts. The last chance for both teams came in the 87th minute when Lauderdale stopped Kastidi Robles' attempt.
            The game was sent into the extra period that was when Tangorra connected on her fifth goal of the season, which was the game-winner in the 92nd minute.
            Walworth recorded five saves en route to the shutout while Lauderdale had six in goal for the Gators.
            SF State will begin a four-game road trip this Friday, September 25 at 1:30pm, when the Gators travel to Rohnert Park for a conference match with Sonoma State.
