Humboldt State Spoils Gators' Senior Day

Gators Recognized Its 6 Seniors Prior To Their Regular Season Finale with Humboldt State This Afternoon
SAN FRANCISCO--- The visiting Humboldt State Lumberjacks spoiled the SF State Gators' senior day this afternoon by defeating the Gators 1-0 in both team's regular season finale. The Gators will enter the CCAA Soccer Championships on Friday, November 5 with a 11-4-3 overall record and a 10-4-2 conference record. They will face UC San Diego in the semi-finals this Friday at 4:30pm while Cal State Stanislaus will face Cal State LA at 7pm also on Friday.

“We did not execute well today and if you don't execute well you cannot expect a good result,” said SF State Head coach Jack Hyde. “We had scoring opportunities including a penalty kick, but we did not put them away,” added Hyde. “We will be ready this Friday for the CCAA's.”

SF State outshot its visitors 15-9 including 11-4 in the second half and also recorded more shot on goal attempts (7-2), but still lost 1-0 to Humboldt State.

The Gators had their first attempt on goal was by Tamerra Griffin (Elk Grove, California, Laguna Creek), but it was stopped by Jennie Paugh midway through the first half. Paugh once again came through later in the half as she stopped Lauren Duran (Poway, California, Poway)shot.

Humboldt State's first real attempt came early in the second half as Annicia Jones (Sacramento, California, West Campus) stopped Kaitlyn Nord's attempt. The game remained scoreless until the 71st minute when Carly Kolfin connected on a cross from Sarah Nakamoto for the game-winner.

Seven minutes later, Kaitlin Dick (Pleasant Hill, California, Berean Christian HS)attempt was stopped by Paugh. Then with just 11:22 left on the clock, the Gators' Andrea Carey (Fresno, California, San Joaquin Memorial)penalty kick attempt went wide left. SF State had one more chance, but Michelle Spinner (Bakersfield, California, Stockdale) shot went wide.

Jones finished with two saves in goal for SF State while Paugh had 7 in goal for the Lumberjacks.
