SAN FRANCISCO – Cal State Stanislaus' Karenee Demery scored twice including the golden goal 23 seconds into the first overtime period off a cross from Bernie Bernicourt to give the Warriors a 2-1 win over the SF State Gators in both team's conference opener at SF State's Cox Stadium. Demery scored the tying goal for Cal State Stanislaus mid-way through the second half.
“I am very disappointed how we lost the game today,” said SF State Head Coach
Jack Hyde. “I thought we had a great goal in the first half, but after that we went downhill,” added Hyde. “We let one player in Karenee Demery beat us today.”

Myriah Johnson (Lakewood, Washington, Clover Park)scored the game's first goal off a corner kick from
Andrea Carey (Fresno, California, San Joaquin Memorial)that went to
Carly Bliss (San Diego, California, Ranch Bernardo), which she headed over to Johnson to give the Gators a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute of the game.
The Gators (1-1-1, 0-1 CCAAA) held on to the 1-0 lead until the 60th minute when Demery connected on a breakaway from Cal State Stanislaus to tie the game at 1-1. SF State had a couple of chances to break the tie but could not get the ball in the goal. The Warriors (3-0, 1-0 CCAA) also had a chance in the 87th minute, but
Annicia Jones (Sacramento, California, West Campus) stopped Demery's shot.
Demery then connected on the golden goal, 23 seconds into the first overtime period off a pass from Bettencourt for her second goal of the game and fourth of the season.
The Warriors out-shot SF State 12-8 including 8-4 in the final two periods. Millie Brown had one save in goal for the Warriors while Jones had two in goal for SF State.
The Gators will return home this Sunday, September 12 at 2pm, when they host Chico State who defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 2-0 in Seaside this afternoon.
