SAN FRANCISCO --- Nicole Vanni made the most of her opportunities this afternoon as she scored both of the Gators' goals in their 2-0 win over the visiting Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes. With the win, SF State recorded its fifth shutout of the season and improved the Gators' record to 4-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the CCAA.

The game was scoreless until the 17:58 mark of the first half, when
Nicole Vanni scored her first goal from 10 yards out off a ball from
Chloe Harrington to give the Gators a 1-0 lead.
Kiley Williams went to double the Gators' lead in the 20
th minute, but Tiffany Mallick made one of her three saves in the first half.
The Coyotes (2-3-1, 0-3-1 CCAA) had a chance to tie the game at 1-1 in the 27
th minute, but
Annicia Jones recorded one of her three saves on the day stopping Brittany Wilding's attempt.
Vanni had another attempt to double the host's lead, but Mallick stopped her attempt in the 39
th minute to send the game into the half with the Gators leading 1-0.
Cal State San Bernardino had two attempts to tie the game in the first five minutes of the second half go array. Casey Hirsch's attempt was blocked by the Gator defense in the 46
th minute and then Jones stopped Kelly Keyes' attempt in the 50
th minute.
Six minutes later, Vanni scored her team high fourth goal of the season and second of the game as she connected on a ball from
Kiley Williams to basically secure the win for the Gators.
Cal State San Bernardino did not give up as Emily Mardon's shot attempt in the 60
th minute went wide right. Then with a little over 20 minutes left in the game, Hirsch's attempt was stopped by the Gator defense as SF State held on for the 2-0 victory.
Jones had three saves as goal keeper in route to her 22
nd career shutout and fifth of the season. Mallick had three saves in the first half for the Coyotes while Chelsey Jones played goal for the visitors.
SF State will return to the pitch this Friday, September 23, when the Gators host Humboldt State at 3pm at Cox Stadium.
