Box Score SAN FRANCISCO --- The visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros snapped the SF State Gators' winning streak at three as they defeated the Gators 1-0 this afternoon at Cox Stadium on the campus of SF State. Sammi Feintein scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 70
th minute off a cross from Bailey Butcher for the Toros.
“We did not communicate well as a team this afternoon,” said SF State Head Coach
Jack Hyde. “Once that happens things do not go well.”
The Toros (5-4, 3-4 CCAA) out played the Gators in the first half as they outshot their hosts 6-4 including 3-1 in shot on goal attempts.
Annicia Jones recorded all three of her saves in the first half including one in the 5
th minute and one in the 17
th minute off of shots from Taylor Canatsey and Lexi Ford.
Ford had another shot attempt stopped by Jones in the 27
th minute.
SF State (6-2-1, 4-2-1 CCAA) only shot on goal attempt in the first half came at the 33
rd minute as
Elizet Ceja's header was stopped by the Toros' Marissa Graska to send the game into the half with a scoreless tie.
The Gators came out strong early in the second 45 minutes as
Nicole Vanni's shot went wide right in the 46
th minute.
The game remained scoreless until the 70
th minute when Feintein connected on a cross from Bailey Butcher to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Vanni went on the attack for the Gators in the 71
st minute, but Graska recorded another save to preserve the 1-0 Toro lead.
SF State had another chance to tie the game, but
Lauren Duran's shot went high in the 80
th minute as the Toros held on for a 1-0 victory.
For the game, the Toros outshot the Gators 14-8 including 3-2 in shot on goal attempts. They also had six corner kicks to the hosts' two.
The Gators will look to get back on the winning track this Sunday, October 2
nd at 2pm, when they host Cal State LA.
