Second Half Surge Keys Seawolves' 3-0 Win

SAN FRANCISCO --- The visiting Sonoma State Seawolves (3-0, 1-0 CCAA) scored three unanswered goals in the first seven minutes of the second half to key their road conference victory over the SF State Gators this afternoon in San Francisco.

"Sonoma State was better than us this afternoon," said SF State head coach Jack Hyde. "They are just further along than us right now and we'll bounce back on Sunday."

Lauren Fryer scored the first goal just 20 seconds into the second half as she connected on a ball from Kristal Luna. Then less than three minutes later, Luna scored off a ball from JJ Marlin and Midge Minton. The final score came in the 52nd minute as Cara Curtin connected on a cross from Lauren Curtin to give Sonoma State a 3-0 lead.

Sonoma State controlled the first half as the Seawolves outshot their hosts 9-0 including 3-0 on shots on goal.

SF State (1-1-1, 0-1 CCAA) had its first attempt shot attempt sail high off the foot of Justine Hernandez in the 46th minute. The Gators' first shot on goal attempt stopped by the Seawolves' Allison Hadidian stopped in the 54th minute off the foot of Stephani Vanni.

Hadidan finished the day with three saves while Allison Land had six saves in goal for the Gaotrs.

SF State will return home this Sunday afternoon at 2pm, when the Gator host Humboldt State at Cox Stadium. The Lumberjacks lost 5-2 at Cal State Monterey Bay this afternoon.
