#11 Warriors Blank Gators, 2-0

Elizet Ceja Had the Gators' Shot on Goal Attempt in the 44th Minute
Box Score  TURLOCK— The SF State Gators' women's soccer team went on the road for the first time this season and came out on the wrong of the scoreboard as they lost 2-0 to the 11th Cal State Stanislaus Warriors (6-0-1, 4-0-1 CCAA) this evening at Warrior Field in Turlock.

“We told the team to keep the Warriors tied up and try to steal a goal,” said SF State head coach Jack Hyde.  “We did that up until the 58th minute and Cal State Stanislaus took advantage of the mistake.”  “Then in the 72nd minute, our defense let down on a simple rebound and the Warriors once again took advantage of our mistake.”

Apryl Whitney scored both of the 11th ranked Warriors' goals this afternoon. The first one came off a ball from Emily Relles at the 57:50 mark of the second half.  Whitney doubled the hosts' lead to 2-0 in the 72nd minute on an unassisted goal.

SF State (2-3-2, 1-3-1 CCAA) had its only shot attempt come with 15 seconds left in the first as Elizet Ceja's shot was stopped by Chelsea Lewandowski.

Cal State Stanislaus outshot the Gators 20-1 including 10-1 in shot on goal attempts.  Allison Land had 8 saves in goal for SF State while Lewandowski had one.

SF State will return to the pitch this Sunday, September 29 at 11:30am PDT, when the Gators travel to Hayward, Calif., for a conference match with Cal State East Bay.  The Pioneers lost 1-0 at home this afternoon to Cal State Monterey Bay.
