SAN FRANCISCO –SF State's women's soccer team will return home this weekend to begin a three-match home stand beginning with Cal Poly Pomona this Friday, October 17 at 3pm. The Gators return home after spending the last two weeks on the road in the CCAA.
SF State went 2-2 in its four matches and the Gators are now 7-5 overall and 2-4 in the CCAA, which places them in a tie for ninth place with Cal State East Bay. The top six teams at the end of the regular season will receive a bid to the six-team CCAA Soccer Championships which begin with the quarterfinal round on Sunday, November 2.
Elizet Ceja and
Autumn Fox lead the Gators with their four goals and 10 points. They also each have scored a team leading two game-winning goals.
Kelsey Wetzstein has recorded a team leading seven assists, which leads the CCAA and is 17
th in the nation.
Allison Land has posted a 0.82 goals against average with 44 saves and four shutouts.
Friday afternoon's opponent, Cal Poly Pomona, comes into this weekend's matches with a 8-4 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the CCAA. The Broncos are tied for fifth in the CCAA with Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State Monterey Bay. Daisy Duran leads the team with her five goals, three assists and 13 points. Ricki Ives has posted a 0.83 goals against average with three saves and 7 shutouts.
Then this Sunday at 2pm, the UC San Diego Tritons come into Cox Stadium for a CCAA match with the Gators. The Tritons are currently 5-5-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the CCAA, which places them in eighth place. Jordyn McNutt leads the team with her four goals, six assists and 14 points. Kelcie Brodsky has posted a 1.30 goals against average with 55 saves and one shutout.
After their match on Sunday, the Gators will continue their three-match home stand with a non-conference mid-week match against Hawai'i-Hilo on Wednesday, October 22 at 3:30pm.
