STOCKTON –Despite shooting 47.9% from the field and
Jasmine Flanagan's game high 29 points, the SF State Gators fell 84-66 in their first exhibition game of the season at Pacific at the Alex G. Spanos Center in Stockton.
Michelle Sutton and
Leticia Galarza each added 11 points for the visitors.
The Tigers jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game capped by a Hailie Eackles three.
Jasmine Flanagan's three stopped the Tigers' 13-0 run and the Gators cut the deficit to 19-9 on a
Jen Garcia lay-up at the 12:15 mark of the first half.
Pacific outscored the Gators 18-8 in the next seven minutes to increase its lead to 37-17.
A Kristina Johnson free throw gave the Tigers a 44-27 lead heading into the locker room.
SF State cut the lead to 44-31 on a
Leticia Galarza jumper in the first two minutes of the second half, but the Tigers went on an 8-2 run to increase their lead to 52-33 and never looked back.
The Gators forced 22 turnovers by their opponents while also connecting on 14 of their 18 attempts from the charity stripe. They also had 32 rebounds while Pacific also had 32 boards.
GeAnna Luaulu-Summers was one of four Tigers to score in double figures as she had 16 points.
SF State will return to the court a week from today as the Gators will host Oregon Tech at 2pm in their second exhibition game of the season. The Gators will round out their exhibition season with a game on November 16 at 6pm at Santa Clara.
They will open up the 2014-15 regular season with a home game against Minnesota State Moorhead on November 20 at 5pm.
