San Francisco, Calif. – SF State President Les Wong laid out eight points of emphasis for the upcoming scholastic year in the annual opening faculty meeting held in McKenna Theatre on the San Francisco State campus. Number eight on that list was a commitment to the branding of the school's mascot, the Gator. In doing so he introduced the new Gator mark that will be used starting immediately.
Men's Basketball senior Udun Osakue and
women's volleyball senior Jazmine Williams unveil the new Gator mark. "What brought about the new mark, was the desire to save the Gator," said Director of Athletics
Charles Guthrie. "That was the message I received during my interview process, and once I got here I realized what we were working with the concept was to do a refresh. We worked with the marketing communications department, the President's office and the student affairs department we came up with a unique look. I think it is going to resonate with what we are trying to do and that's brand our teams as we move forward."
