Autumn Fox Steals the Show in @SFState_WSOC's 3-1 Win at FPU

Autumn Fox Scored Her 2nd and 3rd Goals of the Season in the Gators' 3-1 Road Win
Box Score FRESNO--  SF State's Autumn Fox stole the show this evening in the Gators' 3-1 road win over Fresno Pacific at Ramirez Field in Fresno, Calif.  Fox scored the match's first two goals in the 11th and 53rd minute and then sealed the win for the visitors as she assisted on Rachel Arce's first collegiate goal with eight minutes left on the clock.

"Our defensive was solid through 75% of the match this evening lead by the outside backs in Molly Shuster and Sarah Guensler," said SF State head coach Jack Hyde.  "The momentum started early on with (Autumn) Fox's goal and we just kept it going throughout the match."

The Sunbirds (0-4) had two chances early to take a 1-0 lead, but both of their shot attempts sailed high.  Then at the 11:37 mark of the first half, Fox connected on her first of two goals on a ball that was deflected off the foot of Elizet Ceja which knocked in to give the Gators a 1-0 lead.

Fresno Pacific had a chance to tie the match seven minutes later, but Allison Land stopped Caressa Archie's shot from going in the back of the net with her only save of the night.

Ceja had a chance to double the Gators' lead, but her attempt hit the post to send the match into the half with a 1-0 SF State lead.

Seven minutes into the new stanza, Fox connected on a cross from Kelsey Wetzstein to give the Gators a 2-0 margin.  This was Wetzstein's team high third assist of the season and Fox's team leading third goal.

The Sunbirds would not go away as they cut the Gator lead in half at the 78:53 mark on a goal by Rachelle Schiller off a through ball from Hannah Coyle.

SF State (3-1) sealed the win with less than seven minutes left as Rachel Arce connected on a cross from Fox to give the Gators the 3-1 victory.

The Gators held a slim 14-12 lead in shot attempts including 5-1 in shot on goal attempts.  They also held a 4-3 corner kick advantage.

"Just like our win this past Friday afternoon in Chico, it was a total team effort as everyone played for us this evening," added Hyde.

SF State will return home this Friday, Sept. 19 for a non-conference match with Notre Dame de Namur with a starting time of 3:30pm at Cox Stadium.
