Lauren Hayano and
Stephanie Vanni carried the SF State Gators to a 2-0 win over the visiting Notre Dame de Namur Argonauts.
Allison Land recorded five saves en route to her second shutout of the season.
SF State (4-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 12
th minute on Hayano's first goal of the season off a corner kick from
Kelsey Wetzstein. This was Wetzstein's fourth assist of this season.
The Gators doubled the score as Vanni scored off a ball from
Sarah Guensler in the 31
st minute to take a 2-0 lead.
Notre Dame de Namur (2-3) only had two shot on goal attempts in the first half with the last one coming off the foot of Rebecca Yim in the 28
th minute which
Allison Land stopped for one of her five saves of the day.
It looked like the Gators were going to take a 3-0 lead, but
Sabrina Corpus' shot was stopped in the 49
th minute by the Argonauts' Abigail Cebrero.
The Argonauts had three shot on goal attempts in the second half, but Land stopped all of them including the last one in the 74
th minute off the foot of Bianca Lemus.
SF State out shot its visitors 13-8 with each team recording five shots on goal.
The Gators will return home this Monday, September 22 at 3pm, when they host Hawaii Pacific.
