@SFState_WSOC To Host CSULA and CSUDH This Weekend

SAN FRANCISCO--  After being on the road last weekend, the SF State Gators will return home for a four-match home stand beginning with this Friday's match against Cal State L.A. at 3pm.  The Gators will host Cal State Dominguez Hills this Sunday at 2pm.  SF State is coming off a 0-1-1 as the Gators are now 6-4-3 overall and 2-2-3 in the CCAA.   

This past Friday afternoon in San Marcos, the Gators played in their second consecutive 1-1 double overtime tie.  Cal State San Marcos took a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute on a goal by Meghan Randig. Twenty minutes later, Kimber Lohman tie the match for the Gators on an unassisted goal.  Karin Nordin recorded four saves in 110 minutes of action in goal for the Gators.

Then on Sunday in La Jolla, the Gators outshot UC San Diego 18-8 including 8-2 in shot on goal attempts but came up short in their 2-0 loss to the Tritons.  Vanessa Penuna had four of the Gators' 18 shot attempts while Danielle Vidale had three and Brittany Oldham two. 

For the season, the Gators are now 6-4-3 overall and 2-2-3 in the CCAA.  They are currently tied for 10th in the CCAA, one point out of sixth place.  The top six teams at the end of the regular season on November 1 will receive a berth in the 2015 CCAA Soccer Championships.  The top two seeds will receive a first round bye with the third and fourth seeded teams hosting the fifth and sixth seeded teams on November 3.  The semi-finals and finals will take place on November 6 and 8 on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona in Pomona, Calif.

SF State is averaging 1.54 goals a game while the Gators are giving up 1.02 goals a game.  Nordin has posted a 1.06 goals against average in the 13 matches she has played in this season.  She also has recorded 35 saves and one shutout.  The senior goalkeeper is currently tied fourth in the conference with her four wins and 8th with her 1.06 goals against average.  Arianna Wesley has posted a 0.77 goals against average in four matches while Alannah John has a 0.00 goals against average in one match.  Autumn Fox and Danielle Vidal leads the team with their 8 points.  Fox is tied with Kayleen Belda and Isabella Nazario each with three goals while Vidal has a team leading our goals.  Vidal is tied for fifth in the conference with her four assists.
 
At halftime of their match with the Golden Eagles, the Gators will recognize SF State Faculty member Burcu Ellis of the International Relations Department as the honorary captain. 

The Gators will first host Cal State L.A. this Friday at 3pm at Cox Stadium.  The Golden Eagles are currently in third place in the CCAA with their 4-2-1 conference record.  Cal State L.A., who is 4-5-3 overall, is led by Veronika Steen and Danielle Telles each with six points.  Telles has a team high three goals while Steen has recorded a team leading two assists.  Adriana Maldonado has posted a 0.78 goals against average with 60 saves and four shutouts.

SF State will host Cal State Dominguez Hills this Sunday at 2pm.  The Toros will face Cal State Monterey Bay this Friday before traveling to San Francisco on Sunday.  They are tied for 12th with their 1-10-1 overall record and 0-6-1 record in the CCAA.  Ida Eriksson leads the team with her five goals and 11 points while Louise Kallin and Kendra Serrano each have two assists.  Alexa Flippen has posted a 1.86 goals against average with 36 saves in goal in 8 matches.  Elisa Martin has seen action in six matches and posted a 1.92 goals against average with 30 saves and one shutout. 

After this weekend, the Gators will host their final two home matches of the regular season on October 23 (Cal State San Bernardino) and October 25 (Cal Poly Pomona).  Match times for both of those dates are set for 12:30pm and 11:30am at Cox Stadium.  Prior to their match on the 25, the Gators will recognize their seniors that will be playing their final match on the pitch of Cox Stadium.
