Isabella Nazario Is Tied for the Team lead with Three Goals

SAN FRANCISCO–   After going 0-1-1 at home this past weekend against nationally ranked Sonoma State and Humboldt State, the SF State Gators will travel down south for a pair of road conference matches this weekend.  SF State will travel to San Marcos this Friday, October 9 for a 12:30pm starting match with Cal State San Marcos.  Then on Sunday, October 11 at 11:30am, SF State will face UC San Diego in La Jolla.

The Gators (6-3-2, 2-1-2 CCAA) opened up their weekend with a 1-0 loss to No. 14 Sonoma State this past Friday in which the Seawolves' Kristal Luna scored the game-winner on a free kick in the 52nd minute.  Then yesterday afternoon, SF State played to a 1-1 double overtime tie with Humboldt State.  In its match with Humboldt State, the Gators outshot the Lumberjacks 27-5 including 20-3 in the final 65 minutes of the match. 

The loss and tie for the Gators were their first at home since opening up with three straight home wins over Montana State-Billings, Concordia (Ore.) and Holy Names.  The loss to Sonoma State was their first conference loss since starting CCAA season with a 2-0-1 record. 

Autumn Fox and Danielle Vidal are tied for the team lead with 8 points.  Fox is tied for the team lead with three goals with Kayleen Belda and Isabella Nazario while Vidal has a team high four assists. Karin Nordin has posted a 1.00 goals against average with 31 saves and one shutout in 11 matches.  Arianna Wesley has posted a 0.77 goals against average with five saves in four matches.

In the recent CCAA statistics that were released this morning, Nordin is tied for fourth in wins (6), tied for 10th in shutouts (1) and tenth in saves percentage (.756).  Danielle Vidal is tied for fourth with her four assists. 

The Gators will first face the Cal State San Marcos Cougars this Friday afternoon at 12:30pm in San Marcos.  The Cougars are 2-5-3 overall and 1-2-2 after going 1-1 this past weekend in Los Angeles.  Cal State San Marcos lost at Cal State L.A. 1-0 on Friday and came back and defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills 1-0 on Sunday.  Their win over win over the Toros was their first ever CCAA win. 

Natalie Lara and Paulina Good lead the team with their two goals while Lara has a team high five points.  Sarah Campbell leads the team with her two assists and Good has recorded both of their game-winning goals.  Allie Jara has posted a 0.92 goals against average with 37 saves and one shutouts in 10 matches.

SF State will then travel to La Jolla this Sunday morning for an 11:30am starting conference match at UC San Diego.  The Tritons are 7-4 overall and 3-3 in the CCAA after splitting their two conference road matches last weekend.  They defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills 4-2 on Friday and then lost 1-0 at Cal State L.A. on Sunday on a penalty kick.  This loss snapped their three-game winning streak.

Mary Reilly leads the Tritons with her 7 goals and 16 points (two from assists) while Jordyn McNutt and Kierra Bocchino are tied for the team lead with three assists.  Reilly, McNutt and Katie O'Laughlin each have two game-winning goals.  Kelcie Brodsky has posted a 1.16 goals against average in goal for the Tritons with three shutouts and 41 saves. 

After this weekend, the Gators will return home for four of their final five matches of the regular season.  They will start a four-match home stand on Friday, October 16 at 3pm against Cal State L.A.  Then on Sunday, October 18, SF State will face Cal State Dominguez Hills at 2pm. 

SF State will end its four-match home stand with on October 23 and 25.  The Gators will face Cal State San Bernardino at 3pm on Friday, October 23 and Cal Poly Pomona at 2pm on Sunday, October 25.  Prior to the match on October 25, the Gators will recognize their seniors.
