ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The SF State women's basketball team fell to 0-2 to begin the young season. The Gators were led by
Naila Washington's game-high 16 points and had two players in double figures but could not overcome a slow start and fell to Concordia (Ore.) 64-41 to wrap up the road trip in the Pacific Northwest.
SF State (0-2) scored six points in the first quarter, four coming from the Gators' second leading scorer
Laura Lawson. Lawson finished the day with 10 points, along with eight boards. Washington finished the day with 16 points and six rebounds.
In the opening half the Gators shot 24.2 percent from the floor, going 8-for-33, including a 4-15 mark from long range. SF State scored the game's first points on a layup by Washington, the Cavaliers closed out the opening quarter on a 14-4 run.
In the second quarter the Gators offense came to life with the help of their defense. SF State scored five points off turnovers in the second period. Moreover the bench contributed six points as well. Ultimately, SF State went into the break trailing by nine, 31-22.
In the second half SF State managed to score 19 points, 10 in the third quarter. But the Cavaliers (1-1) came out of the intermission scoring 22 points in the third to take a commanding lead. In the fourth Concordia scored 11 more to take a 23 point lead as the time expired.
In the second half SF State shot better, going 8-for-30 from the floor, but they were 0-for-8 from 3-point range.

Kiara Ginwright finished with five points and three blocked shots.
Lauryn Catching scored three points with two assists and five steals.
The Gators return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 17 when they make their 2015-16 home debut against Notre Dame de Namur at 5:30 p.m. at the Swamp.
